For those, trying to discover that companies website by browsing its blog, ressources sections most probably encountered the carrot of this strategy.

In this article, we will discuss the degree of “free”dom of E-books.

E-books, meaning electronic books.

According to Merriam-Webster, a book is a [1] “ set of printed sheets of paper that are held together inside a cover: a long written work. The second definition, which is for E-book is as following: [2] A long written work that can be read on a computer: E-book.

Freedom of E-books

Let’s briefly describe how to download a E-book.

Firstly, we visit a page of a company we are curious to find out more. If we are curious enough, we might be browsing the “blog” or “ressources” sections.

Secondly, our mouse is inevitably dragged toward a page element containing a catchy title starting with “ download free E-book”.

The moment is near before accessing the juicy content of a free piece of information. But wait, a pop-up appears on our screen indicating a “ please fill contact form in order to access your “free” e-book.

Coming to the point

Actually, while we proceed filling out the form, we give away our information to that company. We become “leads” in their Customer Relation Management (CRM) software. So, it would be a healthy conclusion to say that actually E-books are “unpriced” rather than “free”.

Next, we shall talk about the quality of E-books.
